MADERA COUNTY – An Oxnard man found himself in jail after challenging a Coarsegold resident to a fight, then showing up for the confrontation with a knife and stabbing the other combatant, according to the Sheriff’s Office. Lance Sinklier, Jr, 19, is charged with attempted murder for reportedly stabbing an unidentified Coarsegold man during a fight over a girl.

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Firefighters have gained the upper hand on a fire that destroyed a home on Old Mill Road in Mariposa County today. The fire was reported just after 10 a.m. on Sunday, June 15, as a structure fire. The blaze then spread to the surrounding vegetation, and threatened several other homes in the area.

MARIPOSA COUNTY – The Haigh Fire, which started on Tuesday, June 10, off Highway 49 north of Coulterville, has now been declared 100% contained. The fire was stopped at 130 acres, and crews continue to do patrol and mop up. No structures were damaged or destroyed during the incident, and only one minor injury was reported.
