MARIPOSA COUNTY – The Fox Fire, which started yesterday near Lookout Mountain Road and Foxfield Lane south of Mariposa, is now 60 percent contained and firefighters have held it at 24 acres. As crews continue to strengthen firelines and do mopup, others are being released from the incident.

MARIPOSA COUNTY – Crews are responding to reports of a wildfire just south of Highway 49 near Mormon Bar. The fire was reported at 12:10 p.m. on Lookout Road near Foxfield Road. First engines on scene reported 10 to 15 acres with a dangerous rate of spread.

AHWAHNEE – Firefighters made quick work of a vegetation fire reported just west of Nippanawassee on Tuesday afternoon at 3:45 p.m. The first engine on scene of the incident on Back Road, between Metcalf Gap and Crooks Mountain Road, reported the fire at approximately one-half acre, burning in dry grass.

COARSEGOLD – A fire along Highway 41 this afternoon, just north of Coarsegold, slowed traffic but didn’t result in any lane closures. At 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, crews, dozers and aircraft were dispatched to the intersection of Highway 41 and Serpa Canyon for reports of a vegetation fire.
