Caltrans Conducting Roadway Repair Project

Update: Construction Will Occur During Daytime Hours Along State Route 140 in Mariposa County

MARIPOSA COUNTY – The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will conduct a pavement rehabilitation project during daytime hours beginning Tuesday, September 20, 2022, weather permitting, on State Route 140 from the Mariposa/Merced County Line to approximately 1 mile east of Trower Road in Mariposa County.

Construction crews will employ one-way traffic control between 6:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday until winter 2022. Originally, one-way traffic control was scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. Monday through Friday.

The change is due to an industry-wide truck shortage during nighttime hours. Caltrans will monitor traffic conditions to ensure there are no long delays.

Approximately 24 miles of roadway will be ground and then overlayed with rubberized asphalt concrete to improve the ride quality and prevent costly repairs in the future on a key route for residents, businesses, and visitors of Mariposa, surrounding communities, and Yosemite National Park.

Motorists should expect delays of up to 10 minutes and are advised to take alternate routes whenever possible.

The estimated $5.1 million project will be conducted by Cal Valley Construction of Fresno, CA.

This work is scheduled to begin as listed but is subject to change due to traffic incidents, weather, equipment availability and/or materials, and construction-related issues.
