Tragedy Hits Local Family and How You Can Help

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES–On Saturday, March 4, 2024, a much-loved and respected local family experienced an unimaginable tragedy. On their way to a trampoline park, the Marsh family was in a terrible car accident. The accident took the life of their 11-year-old daughter, Amelia, and caused major injuries to other family members in the vehicle.

Chawanakee Unified School District, where Amelia is a student, posted this on their Facebook page:

Amelia, with the support of her family, has been heavily involved with the Golden Chain Theater in Oakhurst. The family’s GoFundMe page describes her as a:

Beautiful, kind, 11- year-old girl who loved performing with the Golden Chain Theater. All who knew her loved her and felt joy in her presence. She was inseparable from her little sister, Alania, and her brothers Jase, Tanner, and Aiden. She loved her family fiercely.

The accident also caused major injuries to her mother Andrea, her brother Jase, and her sister Alania. Doctors and nurses at Valley Children’s Hospital and Community Regional Medical Center are responsible for taking care of them so that the family can be together again.

According to a GoFundMe for Jase’s mother, Kaley, and twin older brothers, Jase is a vibrant and sweet 8-year-old boy. He has sustained major injuries and is expected to be in the hospital for an extended amount of time. Kaley has been by Jase’s side nonstop. His brothers, Tanner and Aiden, students at Yosemite High School, have been making multiple trips to see him at the hospital and help their mom.

Now they need our help. Chuck Marsh, the father, is unable to work while he is recovering from his own injures and needs to be with his wife and children as they recover. There will also be medical costs, funeral costs and other needs. Kaley, Tanner and Aiden Marsh are also experiencing additional, unexpected expenses.
