Fishing For Cash At Yosemite Bank

OAKHURST – Two bags with a string attached were discovered inside a bank’s deposit drop box in Oakhurst Monday morning. According to Yosemite Bank, sometime between July 5 and July 8, someone tried to steal money bags from the bank’s night deposit drop box using a string, says the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Court Battle Over Venue For Arson Trial

MADERA – Accused arson suspects Kenneth Jackson and Alice Waterman appeared in Madera Superior Court this morning, facing charges in connection with a string of suspicious fires in the Yosemite Lakes Park area. Waterman was being arraigned on new charges, and Jackson was in court for a pre-preliminary hearing and bail review.

Arson Suspect Out On Bail Re-Arrested

MADERA COUNTY – Allison Waterman, who was arrested on June 26 on arson charges, was taken into custody once again on June 29. Waterman, 46, was arrested along with her husband Ken Jackson, 40, in connection with a string of suspicious fires in the Yosemite Lakes Park area over the past several weeks.

Single Car Accident on Highway 41

FISH CAMP – An single-vehicle accident on Highway 41 on Monday, July 1, caused brief closures just north of Road 630. Didier Gerbi, 47, of Oakhurst, was driving his 2006 Chevy HHR southbound on Highway 41 when he apparently entered a corner at too high a rate of speed.
