FISH CAMP – An single-vehicle accident on Highway 41 on Monday, July 1, caused brief closures just north of Road 630.
Didier Gerbi, 47, of Oakhurst, was driving his 2006 Chevy HHR southbound on Highway 41 when he apparently entered a corner at too high a rate of speed. The vehicle slipped in the dirt and gravel on the right shoulder, crossed back across both lanes where it hit a drainage structure and a snow marker. The Chevy then left the roadway, smashed into a large stump and spun around, coming to rest just off the road.
Gerbi suffered some minor bumps and bruises, and was transported to a Fresno hospital for evaluation.
Sierra National Forest Engine E14 responded from Westfall Station, along with Cal Fire, Sierra Ambulance and CHP.
Traffic control was implemented and the road was closed briefly as Doc’s Towing cleared the scene.
