In November Denise was detailed into the Acting District Ranger position from her position as Fuels Officer for the Sierra National Forest.

Denise has worked for the Forest Service for the past 33 years. Eighteen of those years were spent on the Stanislaus National Forest where she held various fire management positions such as Assistant Fire Engine Operator, Fire Engine Operator, Fire Suppression Crew Foreman, District Fire Prevention Officer, Assistant Fuels Officer, Initial Attack Dispatcher and Assistant Fire Management Officer.

In 2001, Denise accepted a position on the Sierra National Forest as a District Fuels Specialist, and was promoted in 2008 to Forest Fuels Officer and Fire Planner.

“I look forward to moving the Forest ahead in these complex and changing times,” says Denise, who is exited about the new year, new ideas, and building on existing partnerships so that communities feel ownership of their forest.
