Embrace Nature: Adopt a Ponderosa Pine Seedling Today!

The Sierra National Forest – The Bass Lake Ranger District invites nature lovers residing in the North Fork/Oakhurst/Mariposa area to become part of the incredible 2024 reforestation effort. The amazing spring reforestation program will see contract crews planting an astounding 750 acres.

The reforestation program aims to rejuvenate areas affected by the 2014 French/2020 Creek Fires. A staggering total of up to 165,000 seedlings will be carefully planted on the district, approximating 200-260 seedlings per acre.

Ponderosa Pine Seedlings

Area residents can adopt ponderosa pine seedlings from the Bass Lake Ranger District office. They may pick-up 5-20 seedlings per visit, while supplies last. The intent for the seedlings is for them to grow on private property. The seedlings begin life in the nurturing environment of the Placerville nursery. Also growing at the nursery are the adorable blister rust resistant sugar pine seedling.

Residents may visit the Bass Lake Ranger District office on 57003 Road 225 in North Fork, CA. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 am to 4:30 p.m. — to pick-up seedlings.

Please call the North Fork office, at 559-877-2218, for more information on the adoption process. You can also receive information on the spring 2023 reforestation program. Let’s make our world greener, healthier, and more vibrant together.
