NORTH FORK – North Fork will celebrate Memorial Day with two observances on Monday, May 27.
The first will take place at the Military Wall at Gas ‘n Stuff at 12 noon. Everyone is invited to attend, and anyone who wears a uniform, past or present, is encouraged to wear it on this day, from Scouts to Vets.
The ceremony will be directed by the man who built and maintains the wall, Augie Capuchino.Bill Samuelson, Music Director at Minarets High School will play The Star Spangled Banner on trumpet, and Pastor Sam Tallmon of Calvary Chapel of the Sierras will be offering an opening prayer.
Everyone will then caravan to North Fork Cemetery, where the Oakhurst Veterans of Foreign Wars, VFW Post 8473, will conduct a flag raising ceremony at 1 p.m.
