Storm Watch: Late February 2023 PART 2

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIESThe National Weather Service Hanford Office is predicting that a series of cold storm systems will continue to bring winter weather impacts to the foothill and mountain communities across our area. These storms are expected to include blizzard like conditions in the higher elevations of Yosemite National Park and the Sierra Nevada Mountains and snow levels down to 500 foot elevation. Several feet of snow are projected in many areas. We will be monitoring and reporting on the storm systems impacts throughout.

Check below for weather alerts, road conditions including traffic collisions, closures and hazards, school closures, power outages and other emergencies as they happen.

School Closures

Madera County [CUSD] School’s cancelled for NFS and MOHS tomorrow, 2/28/23; AM Bus Rtes 1-2-3 and PM Rtes 6 for Spring Valley- Rtes 3 and 10 for Cedar & Minarets cancelled

All Yosemite Unified school campuses (including the District offices/departments) will be closed again tomorrow, February 28, 2023 due to continued weather-related issues that have created power outages, hazardous travel conditions and other impacts to our students, staff, and families, along with forecasted weather throughout tonight.

We apologize for any inconvenience and appreciate your understanding of these circumstances centered on the safety and well-being of our entire YUSD community. We will continue to monitor conditions and communicate out any further information regarding the remainder of this week as soon as practical.

Good Afternoon MCUSD Staff and Families,

Tuesday, February 28th through Wednesday, March 1st, 2023, all MCUSD school sites will observe a Snow Day.

This decision has been made as the Winter Storm continues to be unpredictable and the National Weather Service (NWS) is predicting blizzard conditions. NWS is also anticipating that hazardous conditions that will make travel very difficult to impossible.

Many areas throughout Mariposa County continue to be heavily impacted by snow accumulation, power outages, and road restrictions requiring four-wheel drive and/or chains.

Please check your county and state transportation websites for current road conditions and restrictions prior to travel.

We apologize for the inconvenience and want to assure you that our team continues to make decisions with the safety of our students and staff as our top priority.

Mariposa County offices will be CLOSED Tuesday, February 28th, 2023.

Emergency staffing such as Public Works and law enforcement teams will continue to be out in the community clearing roadways and ensuring public safety. Other staff will be working remotely to continue to support our community.

The American Red Cross will re-open their resource center at 9:00 am tomorrow morning at the Mariposa Senior Center, 5246 Spriggs Lane. If you need assistance to get to the shelter, please call 209-259-1332.

Boil Water Notice for Oakhurst

Cell Phone Service

We are receiving reports of AT&T cell phone service being down throughout the area. According to the carrier, this is a state wide crash affecting cellular communication extending to southern California. Estimated time of repairs is Monday 3:15pm.
