Cal Fire Offers Free Disposal Of Tree Mortality Slash

NORTH FORK — For a limited time, Eastern Madera County has access to two air curtain burners to dispose of woody slash materials, says Justine Reynolds, Program Development Manager of Yosemite/Sequoia RC&D Council.

The burners were purchased by Cal Fire to travel throughout the Governor’s pre-identified High Hazard Counties.

Air curtain burners are currently the best alternative to open burning, says Reynolds, ultimately reducing air pollution in the communities in which they are utilized.

Slash material will be accepted at the North Fork Biomass Disposal Facility on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Slash material should be from tree mortality debris, felling, or removal — i.e. branches, small diameter trees, rounds – no construction waste accepted.

It is imperative that the materials are free of any construction wood, dirt, or any other substances. There is no cost for delivering this slash material on these days.

The North Fork Disposal Facility is located on the Old Mill Site property, 34000 Koso Nobe Road in North Fork.

For questions on deliveries, contact Cal Fire Rancheria Fire Station (559)-877-2322.

If you have any other questions, or are interested in delivering logs to be processed at the log deck, please contact Yosemite/Sequoia RC&D Council at (559)-877-8663.
