YOSEMITE — The Yosemite High School Theater Arts Department is proud to present the romantic comedy Almost Maine, by John Cariani, on Nov. 21, 22 and 23 at 7 p.m. in the YHS Theater.
Almost Maine explores the mysteries of the human heart. During a magical mid-winter’s night, residents of a mythical town in far northern Maine are falling in and out of love at an alarming rate. But as fast as hearts are broken, they are mended – almost – in this delightful and very funny play.
The play features 22 performers and four technicians. Several roles are double cast. Director Lars Thorson explains, “At YHS, we try to structure our programs so that every student can be in as many activities as possible. This year my Advanced Theater class has three varsity basketball players. Those girls are just starting their season, but we were able to double cast three parts so they each get one night to perform without missing a game.” YHS Junior Jenna Kurz added, “I was bummed when I thought we couldn’t be in the play because of basketball, but we worked it out, and now I get to be in the show.”
Mr. Thorson added, “The show is sweet and funny and sad, all the things involved with love. This really is a special group of performers. I am enormously proud of their work.”
Tickets for Almost Maine are $7 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens.
