Yosemite High Hosts Nite On The Town

OAKHURST – The 6th annual “Nite on the Town” fundraiser and performance extravaganza benefiting Yosemite High School (YHS) “Badger” Music Department is set for Saturday night, Mar. 1.

Billed as an evening of “talent, dessert and great fun,” the gala event takes place from 7 – 9 p.m. in the YHS gymnasium.

“Nite on the Town is a gathering of local talented teenagers from Yosemite High,” explains YHS senior student Kayla Mitchell, who may be a little bit biased, since she’s one of those teens. “It’s a very classy night filled with fun and music.”

The gym is transformed into a nightclub style venue for the event. “You sit at a decorated round table in the middle of the room, surrounded by four stages providing loads of talent,” Kayla continues. “Coffee is free and served the whole show, and dessert is provided at intermission.”

The evening also includes a generous silent auction with valuable prizes already being tallied up for bid, according to organizer Virginia Lazar, whose son Thomas is in band. The goodies up for auction include a stay at the Hilton Hotel in Pismo Beach, along with gift certificates from many businesses in the mountain area.

“We have silent auction gift certificates available for nights at The Redwoods in Yosemite, the Narrow Gauge Inn, Chukchansi Resort and Casino and Tenaya Lodge,” says Lazar. “More are still coming in.” Smart shoppers, be on the lookout for Disneyland Park Hopper tickets and a wealth of other sponsored deals.

Nite on the Town holds the promise of an inspirational dose of entertainment coupled with the opportunity to help support a strong music program in the local school district.

“All the proceeds go to supporting the YHS Music Department,” Kayla says. “To buy a ticket, talk to your favorite musicians from the band and choir, since selling the tickets helps us raise money for our Spring Tour. We’re going to Disneyland and we’ll be able to play in front of literally hundreds of people.”

Single tickets in advance are $20 each. A reserved, corporate table for eight is $250. Tickets are $25 per person at the door.
