Half Dome Cables Down Today

The Half Dome Cables are being taken down Wednesday, October 14.

Valley Backpackers Campground Closes November 1

The Valley Backpackers Campground (located in the sixth loop of Upper Pines) will be closing for the season at noon on November 1st.

Preservation Work Continues On Two Yosemite Bridges Through November

Starting Monday, October 12, crews will commence repair work on the El Capitan Bridge in Yosemite Valley and on the East Fork of the Cascade Creek Bridge on the El Portal Road. The work will continue through the end of November, 2020 and they are planning to work from 7AM to 7PM, Monday through Friday. The work on these road bridges will include single lane traffic control with up to 15-minute delays.

Wawona Road Delays

Starting next Monday, October 19, 2020 crews will begin some additional drainage repairs and shoulder stabilization on the Wawona Road in the former Ferguson Fire burn area (Between the Rostrum and Chinquapin.).  As part of these repairs there will be single lane traffic control with up to 30-minute delays.  The work will continue thru the end of the calendar year.

Then beginning, Thursday, October 29, 2020 crews will begin working on a slide stabilization located approximately 1-mile north of the Wawona Campground.  As part of this stabilization there will be two, 4-hour closures each day with a 1-hour opening period between the two, 4-hour closures.  These closures will extend for 3-weeks and they will be from 8AM to Noon and from 1PM to 5PM each work day thru November 18, 2020.  The Wawona Road will be closed at the Chilnualna Falls Road on the south end and Henness Ridge Drive on the north end of the closure area. The reason for these 4-hour closures is for safety to prevent vehicles from being hit by slide material or blast rock as the crews work to remove the loose rocks and boulders from this active slide area.

Summary of Delays/Closures:

Monday thru Friday

30 Minute Delays = 10/19/20 thru 10/28/20 and 11/19/20 thru 12/31/20

4 Hour Closures = 10/29/20 thru 11/18/20 (8AM to Noon & 1PM to 5PM)
