Update: Missing O’Neals Woman Safely Located in Bass Lake

BASS LAKE – The new year brought some good news for one mountain area family after an “at-risk” O’Neals woman missing since Saturday night was “safely located” in the Bass Lake area, according to an update issued late Tuesday night by the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Priscilla Pitman Melendez, 46, an O’Neals resident, was reported to have wandered away from her residence on Dec. 28, prompting an intense, county-wide search effort by law enforcement authorities, who had described Pitman Melendez as “an at-risk adult” after she disappeared.

But on New Year’s Eve, MCSO deputies located Pitman Melendez in the Bass Lake area.

No further details about her disappearance and recovery were immediately available.

On its Facebook page, MCSO posted: “The Madera County Sheriff’s Office would like to thank the public and local media for their assistance and widespread sharing of information to bring attention to this case.”
