Tree Dropped On Power Line Sparks Vegetation Fire

NORTH FORK – Firefighters made quick work of a fire on Road 225 this morning, working around the dangerous power lines that reportedly sparked the blaze.

Just before 10 a.m. reports came in of a fire in the 59000 block of Road 225. There was at least one structure immediately threatened.

The first unit at scene was Sierra National Forest Engine 52, followed closely by Cal Fire Engine 4255 out of Rancheria Station. Firefighters quickly got a line around the perimeter and the fire was contained at 10:14 a.m. All incoming resources were cancelled.

According to a witness at the scene, a man was cutting down a tree and it fell the wrong way, hitting a power line which began to spark.

PG&E was on scene by about 10:10 a.m. All resources were released by 11 a.m. with the fire fully controlled.

The fire was located across the road from the address shown below.
