AHWAHNEE – District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler will be hosting the next in his series of Town Hall meetings on Thursday, Oct. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m., at the Wasuma School in Ahwahnee.
This is a chance for constituents to discuss issues that are important to them with their representative on the Madera County Board of Supervisors.
The Wasuma Elementary School is located at 43109 Highway 49 in Ahwahnee.
Recently I sent this letter to Tom and all the candidates. So far, Micheal Salvador is the only one to respond.
Perhaps Tom will give us some insight to the homeless problem at the town hall meeting.

Please share with us your plans for dealing with the Oakhurst homeless situation and the dumping of Madera County jails recently released prisoners in our town….Three buses full that we are aware of.
Business owners like myself have brought this issue to the Sheriff’s department, county supervisors and even the chamber of commerce. No answers or solutions – just shoulder shrugging and non-responsiveness.
Theft, vandalism, burglaries and now fires are now a well-documented fact of life here with the homeless.
