OAKHURST – New York Times best selling author Dave Burgess is coming to Oakhurst, bringing with him the keys to his book and system, “Teach Like a Pirate.” The “Pirate” professional development team, with Burgess at the helm, will offer the program at the Yosemite High School Theater from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon, on Saturday, Feb. 15.

This event, specially designed for educators, is sponsored by the Rivergold Elementary School Parent Teacher Association (PTA), making the workshop available free of charge to all employees of Yosemite Unified School District (YUSD). Other districts are offered priority registration and a reduced fee of just $20.

YUSD serves over 1,800 students from Ahwahnee, Bass Lake, Coarsegold, Fish Camp, Oakhurst, Raymond, and Wawona.

“Teach Like a Pirate” as presented by author and innovator Dave Burgess, is said to be a “high energy, entertaining and inspirational program designed to both dramatically increase student engagement and totally transform the educator’s perspective.”
