Enjoy an Enchanted Evening at Fresno Flats Historic Village

OAKHURST—Join Fresno Flats Historic Village and Park for an enchanting evening set amidst the rustic charm of this historic park. At the same time, contribute to the preservation of Oakhurst’s invaluable historic gem.

Candlelit Tours, Live Music and A Special Menu

Embark on docent-led tours of cherished buildings, including special candlelit tours after dusk, with a special opportunity to experience Fresno Flats as the early settlers did. Indulge in elevated Americana culinary creations prepared by Willow Creek Catering, to provide a flavorful touch to the evening. Among the buffet menu selections offered will be Chicken Pineapple Skewers w/ Cilantro Chimichurri, Linguica Sliders with Sauteed Bell Peppers and Onions, Sweet Potato Black Bean Sliders, Dutch Oven Veggie Chili and much more. Terry Robinson provides live music for the event.

Silver Knob Cabin Unveiled

The star of the evening is the newly renovated Silver Knob Cabin, which has been renovated as a vacation rental. Its makeover gives Fresno Flats a much-needed income stream to help preserve the 501(c)3 historical site. With buildings approaching their 150th anniversary this year, upkeep is a major on-going concern.

The cabin tells quite a history.  It originated in the Sierra National Forest about a quarter mile from its namesake Silver Knob peak. The cabin then moved down to Holiday Village in Oakhurst, subsequently over to Fresno Flats. You can read a bit about its history and its transformation to a vacation rental here.

During the evening, you’ll be able to witness the unveiling of the “new” Silver Knob Cabin.  You can seize the chance to pre-book a night at Silver Knob Cabin, complete with a welcome basket to enhance your stay. In addition, Fresno Flats offers silent auction items, including the adoption of tiny black-oak seedlings. This year the Heritage Black Oak Tree in front of the Laramore House produced a bumper crop of sprouts. Rather than tossing them, Fresno Flats offers the chance to purchase an indigenous shade tree to add to your yard to be enjoyed for generations to come.

Proceeds Provide Funds for Ongoing Maintenance Costs

The ongoing upkeep of these buildings is crucial to thwarting the relentless threats of decay and deterioration. By supporting the Fresno Flats 501(c)3 non-profit organization, attendees directly contribute to the funding of repairs, maintenance and renovation efforts integral to the preservation of these historic structures.

Fresno Flats’ mission involves preserving the rich tapestry of stories, artifacts and legacies left behind by Pioneer, Native American, and Chinese Settler families. Community involvement ensures that these treasures are archived, displayed, and shared with future generations. Support of An Evening at Fresno Flats, as well as the new vacation rental, helps achieve that goal.
