Talents Revealed In YHS Competition

OAKHURST — Students gathered in the Yosemite High School theater on Monday, Feb. 1 for the school’s annual Talent Show, where a total of nine students took the stage in a brave bid for local fame and the chance to advance to the North Sequoia League Talent Show later this month.

Demonstrating his abilities on the Yo-yo, Jeff Burt showed off his skills, and Dannika Anstead danced ballet to “Susie Snowflake.” Riley Ashton sang “Take Me To Church,” and Nathaniel Schlepp danced to “Thumbs Up.” Alyssa Suderman sang “Can’t Help Falling In Love” while playing her ukelele. Keirsten Baker sang “Hello” while playing guitar, Cedar Dobson played three songs on her tin whistle, and Sydney Hamilton sang “If I Die Young.” Zoe Bush and Ryan Eppler sang a duet of “Folsom Prison Blues” and played guitar.

Bush and Eppler turned out to be the number one performance of the evening, with Suderman capturing second place, and Baker coming in third to finish out the top three acts.

The team of Bush and Eppler, along with Suderman on her ukelele, will now advance to the NSL Talent Show, taking place at Sierra, Kerman, Liberty Madera Ranchos and Chowchilla High Schools, Tuesday, Feb. 9 through Thursday, Feb. 11.
