OAKHURST — Gallery 5 invites the public to view a body of new work by painter and mixed media artist Susan ManterBolen, whose work is wide-ranging and includes vivid expressionistic landscape as well as modern surrealism.
“ManterBolen’s recent work is deeply personal, exploring events in her own life while also referencing folklore, history, and human relationship with nature.”
“Susan Manter-Bolen (aka ManterBolen) creates surreal and symbolic landscapes, portraits, and dreamscapes featuring archetypal and anthropomorphic figures in vividly colorful and geometrically stylized environments,” says the artist’s website.
“She works predominantly in acrylic, occasionally experimenting with alternative mediums such as unique wooden shapes, found objects, and recyclable materials. Susan also sculpts unique pieces in the Day of the Dead sugar skull tradition.”
The show opens on Saturday, Sept. 8, at Gallery 5 located at 40982 CA-41 on Gallery Row. There’s a reception with the artist on Saturday, Sept. 22 from 5 to 8 p.m.
