RAYMOND — District 5 Supervisor Tom Wheeler held a Town Hall meeting at Raymond-Knowles Elementary Thursday night and more than a dozen local residents turned out.
As might be expected, coronavirus was the hot topic at the meeting, which included a COVID-19 update from Madera County Department of Health’s Juli Gregson. Two local residents voiced their concerns to Wheeler about the government’s response so far to the outbreak.
Representatives from the Red Cross, the San Joaquin Valley Air District and the 20/20 Census were among the presenters, in addition to Supervisor Wheeler, at the two-hour meeting.
There were also updates from CAL FIRE and the California Highway Patrol.
Madera County Sheriff Jay Varney also spoke briefly at the event.
Supervisor Wheeler’s next Town Hall meeting is scheduled to take place in Bass Lake on April 16.
