Structure Fire Near North Fork On Pine Tree Lane

NORTH FORK – Crews are on scene of a structure fire burning near the east end of Pine Tree Lane in the Leisure Acres area.

Just before 3:30 p.m., firefighters were called out to reports of smoke near Duke Road. The first unit on scene found one structure involved with spread to the surrounding vegetation.

Cal Fire, Madera County Fire, Sierra National Forest, and Madera County Sheriff’s deputies responded, along with helicopters and air tankers.

Just before 4 p.m., the forward progress of the vegetation fire was stopped at about one acre, however the structure continues to burn and will be a total loss.

As of 4 p.m., deputies were issuing advisories to all residents in the Duke Road area and roads branching off, to be prepared to evacuate if necessary. No mandatory evacuations were ordered.

At 4:15 p.m. all units not already at scene were cancelled.

Power is reported to be out to some 267 customers in the area, and is expected to be restored by 7:45 p.m.

At 4:54 p.m., the fire was contained and all advisories were cancelled through the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

It is not known if anyone was home at the time the fire started, and the cause is under investigation.
