Speaker Addresses Property, Water And Public Land Rights

Submitted by Jannai Pero

OAKHURST – The public is invited to the Oakhurst / Coarsegold Tea Party Action Meeting on Tuesday, July 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Yosemite Gateway Inn Restaurant, 40530 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.

“This is not a partisan topic,” say organizers, who invite everyone to hear guest speaker Debbie Bacigalupi detailing the “history, political, economic and environmental issues that impact every single one of us and explain how all of these issues are related.”

Bacigalupi will address what she says are crises in California, including concern for water, food, and private property.

The topic will be AmeriCAN or AmeriCAN’T: Protecting Your Property, Water and Public Land Access Rights. Bacigalupi will share her knowledge on the “attack of private property and water rights and how over-regulation and government corruption factor into the monster that is Regionalism in California.”

She will show a sneak preview of a documentary she co-directed, focusing on the water crisis in the San Joaquin Valley called, NO WATER. NO FARMER. NO FOOD.

“Regardless of party affiliation, these issues have crossed party lines where a large and growing movement encompassing a diverse population concurs something is not quite right in California; many search for solutions,” say organizers. “What we are experiencing from water shortage to increased living costs, eroding of local control, and loss of choices threatens everyone’s quality of life and the environment.”

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session.
