Soroptimists Welcome Their Five Newest Members

MOUNTAIN COMMUNITIES — At the Soroptimist Business Meeting on January 5, 2023, five new members were installed into the club. President of Soroptimist International of The Sierras Heather Nocket said, “We love to have new members join us and become volunteers for the programs we bring to our mountain community. The energy and new ideas they will bring to our organization are invaluable.”

About the Soroptimist International of The Sierras

They are part of Soroptimist International, which is a world-wide women’s organization, working to improve the lives of women and girls. Almost 95,000 Soroptimists in about 120 countries and territories contribute time and financial support to community-based and international projects that benefit women and girls.

Chartered in 1968, the club is located in the mountain community of Oakhurst, California. In addition to supporting all Soroptimist projects & awards, we are very involved in all aspects of our local community.

Soroptimist International is a global women’s organization that was founded in 1921. It was established by a group of women in Oakland, California, who wanted to make a difference in their community and improve the lives of women and girls.

The organization’s name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and its mission is to improve the lives of women and girls through programs leading to social and economic empowerment.

Soroptimist International has grown to include thousands of clubs in over 130 countries, and it continues to work towards its goal of improving the lives of women and girls through a variety of programs and initiatives.
