OAKHURST — Join us for some good old-timey fun as we check out the beautiful quilts made by local artists at the Sierra Mountain Quilters Association’s 2023 “Gateway to Yosemite” quilt show at the Oakhurst Community Center. There will be vendors, raffle baskets, a quilt raffle, and a silent auction. These quilt shows are always a heap of fun, so we’ll see you there!
- Saturday, May 20, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
This year’s featured quilter will be Bev Gulley!
All ages welcome.
About the Sierra Mountain Quilters Association
The Sierra Mountain Quilters Association was founded in 1980. A love of quilting was the only requirement for membership then and still holds true today. The group meets on the first Thursday of every month. Meetings are held at 6 p.m. at the Oakhurst Community Center. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.
Activities at these meetings may include a guest speaker, workshop, technique demonstrations, slides or videos, as well as “Sew-n-Tell.” Click here for more information about their programs.
Annual dues are $25.00. Visitors are always welcome.
In addition to monthly meetings, “circles” have been formed. These meetings are usually held at different places of the members choosing and host various projects. The guild also hosts a biennial Quilt Show. Other activities include making Community quilts and cuddle quilts and displaying member’s quilts at local locations.
Here is a list of definitions for the buzz words that quilters throw around so easily.
A monthly newsletter will be e-mailed to each member, unless a hard copy has been requested. Articles of interest along with the monthly activities schedule, news and current events are posted to keep members informed. The newsletters may also be downloaded from the site under the newsletter link.
