Smash & Grab At The 22-Mile House

MADERA COUNTY – The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in identifying the suspects they say are responsible for a break in at the Valero on Highway 41.

A lone thief busted through a window at the 22-Mile House early this morning, and made off with 12 stacks of various lottery tickets. The Madera County Sheriff’s Office is receiving reports that the suspect is now cashing them at convenience stores in Fresno.The sheriff’s office is hoping someone will recognize two men captured on surveillance tape cashing in stolen scratchers throughout Fresno.

At approximately 4:22 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 28, the sheriff’s office was alerted to a break-in at the Valero Station, locally known as the 22-Mile House, located on the corner of Highway 41 and Road 208.

photoSurveillance tape shows the suspect was in and out within seconds. The thief broke through the window, raced to the counter, grabbed stacks of various lottery tickets and then ran out.

When deputies arrived, the thief had already fled the scene.

Since the break-in, two men have been captured on surveillance tape cashing in the stolen tickets at 17 stores in Fresno.

They hit a Circle K on Olive, a gas station on North Blackstone, and 15 other establishments in the area of Blackstone & Shields. They also hit a Savemart, where they cashed two stolen tickets.

Detectives say the pair has pocketed at least a thousand dollars so far.
