OAKHURST — Music lovers will want to know there’s a free classical concert featuring local musicians, sponsored by the Sierra Foothill Composers’ Co-operative, and this particular program is enhanced by the inclusion of five Yosemite High School (YHS) graduates who will return to take the stage.
The Sierra Foothill Musicians concert will be presented at 2 p.m. on June 30 at Sierra Vista Presbyterian Church, located at 39696 Highway 41 in Oakhurst.
Flutes of the Foothills will reassemble for the concert, also set to include vocal music and music for solo flute, clarinet, saxophone, bassoon, mandolin and piano. Music of a dozen composers from the eighteenth through the twentieth century will be featured, according to Barbara Ulman: Vivaldi, Smetana, Mozart, Schubert, Bach, Telemann, Barber, Bizet, Berlioz, Saint Saëns, Griffes and others.
Mountain-area musicians performing at the Sierra Foothill Concert include Clyde Lansing, clarinet; Shirley Lay, flute; Mary Posluch, soprano voice, piano; Megan Rice, saxophone; Barbara Ulman, piano and Joe Wheelock, mandolin.
