OAKHURST – The changing light and golden setting sun say the season for Sierra Art Trails (SAT) is upon us, and as of Saturday, Sept. 6, the Preview Exhibit opened at Stellar Gallery, leading up to the Gala Reception and Annual Presentation of Awards on Saturday, Sept. 13 from 4 – 9 p.m.
The Preview Exhibit at Stellar Gallery is running Sept. 6 through Oct. 5, and features a stunning representative piece by each artist in Sierra Art Trails. Viewing the Preview Exhibit is a great way to plan a Sierra Art Trails weekend, say organizers, by first discovering the work you want to see, and then planning your route to the artists’ studios accordingly.
On Saturday, Sept. 13 the public is invited to a Gala Reception and Annual Presentation of Awards, from 4 – 9 p.m. at the Gallery. The reception features a pot-luck buffet along with a kick-off for the annual silent auction. Look forward to a presentation of SAT annual awards, live music by the band Good Medicine, and “as always, good company and great art.” The evening gives those who attend a chance to mingle with artists and celebrate the arts.
Stellar Gallery is located at Oakhurst’s Gallery Row, 40982 Highway 41, Suite 1. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. – 5 p.m., Wednesday through Monday.
The 12th annual Sierra Art Trails 2014 Yosemite Foothills Open Studio Tour gives art enthusiasts the chance to see fine art and fine crafts in the making, and to purchase works directly from the people who create them.
SAT takes place on Friday, Oct. 3 through Sunday, Oct. 5 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in homes, studios, galleries, and businesses in more than a dozen communities in Eastern Madera and Mariposa Counties. SAT features artists and artisans working in a wide range of media including painting, photography, jewelry, sculpture, fiber arts, woodcarving, ceramics, glass, and more.
The Sierra Art Trails Catalog serves as a “Ticket for Two” to the extraordinary artists’ event. The cost of admission for two adults to all SAT Open Studio Tour locations over the event weekend is $18 and also buys the annual Sierra Art Trails Catalog. The Catalog has all the details on attending the show, including a list of artists, an example of their work, their viewing locations, and a detailed map for a care-free arrival.
