Sheriff’s Crime Log Through Aug. 13

MADERA COUNTY – Following are details from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of reports taken locally from Monday, Aug. 7, to Sunday, Aug. 13, 2017.

Bass Lake possible sexual assault
On Tuesday, Aug. 1, at 2:02 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to a telephonic report of possible sexual assault that occurred at Bass Lake. A deputy took a report of the incident.

Coarsegold warrant arrest
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 12:55 a.m., a deputy was patrolling in the area of CA-41 and Yosemite Lakes Parkway in the town of Coarsegold when a traffic enforcement stop was conducted for a vehicle code violation. During the stop the passenger was found to have a misdemeanor warrant out of Madera County. The subject was arrested, cited and released on scene for the warrant. Case closed by arrest.

Coarsegold warrant citation
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 2:11 a.m., a deputy made a traffic stop on CA-41 and Rd 417. During the investigation a subject was found to have a warrant. A citation was issued and the female was released from custody..

North Fork prowler
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 2:12 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to a residence located within the 55000 block of Quail Hollow Court in North Fork, regarding a report of a prowler. According to the information received by the witness the prowler was suspected to be a Gilbert Beecher who was wanted by the Sheriff’s Department for an outstanding felony warrant. The area was searched but the subject was not located. This case was written for documentation only and has been closed.

O’Neals coroner’s case
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 2:45 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 31000 block of Quail Creed Rd regarding a coroners case. An investigation was completed and a report was written. The case was forwarded to the Madera County Sheriffs Office Chief Coroner.

North Fork marijuana eradication
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 6 a.m., MCSO (Madera County Sheriff’s Office) deputies were assisted by USFS/LEO (United States Forest Service/Law Enforcement Officers) and CAMP (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) personnel conduct a marijuana eradication operation in an area within the Sierra National Forest near North Fork.

Coarsegold identity theft
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 10:56 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 41000 Block of Lilly Mountain Drive regarding a report of a fraud. Identity theft affidavit was provided to victim and report of incident was taken by the deputy.

Oakhurst homicide
On Monday, Aug. 7, at 7:27 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 52000 block of Road 423 in the town of Oakhurst regarding shots fired with a male subject shot. Upon arrival life saving procedures ensued but to no avail. It was determined the victim had been shot by subjects who had left the scene prior to deputies arrival. The scene was secured and turned over to detectives, and the deceased was later turned over to A&R Mortuary. Case forwarded to the Chief Deputy Coroner.

Oakhurst Man Killed In Last Night’s Shooting Identified

Coarsegold residential burglary
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 8:35 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 29000 block of Yosemite Springs Parkway regarding a residential burglary. Case should be closed at this time due to lack of leads.

Oakhurst delinquent vehicle impounded
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 9:50 a.m. a deputy conducted a routine traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle with expired vehicle registration in the area of Road 426/ Road 427 in Oakhurst. The vehicle was towed due to delinquent registration. Close the case.

Oakhurst credit card fraud
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 11:26 a.m.,  a deputy took a report of credit card fraud. Credit card company required their client to make a report of the theft.

Oakhurst sexual assault case
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 12:23 a.m., a deputy took a telephone report from a resident of Norco, CA, who stated his daughter was sexually assaulted while at an address in the 39000 block of Evergreen Drive in Oakhurst approximately three months ago. Report taken and forwarded to Detectives.

Coarsegold check fraud
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 1:42 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation for a check fraud report that occurred on the 29000 block of Horseshoe Drive. Case should be closed at this time due to lack of leads.

Oakhurst assault report
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 4:58 p.m., a deputy responded to an address in the 40000 block of Griffin regarding an assault. The reporting party decided they wanted nothing done. Case to be closed.

Coarsegold danger to self
On Tuesday, Aug. 8 at 10:19 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 46000 block of Strawberry Road regarding a possible domestic. Upon arrival it was determined the male half had been drinking alcohol while on anti-depressants. Subject also made suicidal statements. Male was taken for a mental health evaluation by EMS.

Coarsegold lost wallet
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 8:48 p.m., deputies responded to the 46000 block of Lucky Lane for a lost wallet report. A report was taken for this incident. This case was closed.

Coarsegold stolen vehicle possibly related to homicide
On Tuesday, Aug. 8, at 11:09 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the area of 36000 block of Highway 41 regarding a suspicious vehicle. As deputies began checking the area they located the vehicle in the 36000 block of Serpa Canyon Road. The vehicle matched the description of the suspect vehicle of a homicide that happened in Oakhurst. The vehicle was also found to have been reported stolen out of Salinas, CA. Vehicle was turned over to detectives for further investigation.

Oakhurst theft
On Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 11:10 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the area of 40000 Griffin Drive in Oakhurst regarding a theft. A report taken. Close the case.

Oakhurst warrants arrest
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 11:38 p.m., a deputy conducted a routine traffic enforcement stop on a vehicle in the area of CA 41 at Golden Oak Loop in Oakhurst which resulted in the driver being arrested and booked into jail on probation violations and warrants. Forward the case to the Madera County DA for new charges.

Oakhurst credit card fraud
On Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 2:27 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the block of 56000 Road 200 regarding unlawful use of a credit card. The victim requested a report for documentation. Refer report suspended until further leads develop.

Oakhurst possession of controlled substance
On Wednesday, Aug. 9, at 11:12 p.m., a deputy conducted a vehicle check in the 40000 block of Highway 49 in Oakhurst. A male individual was arrested for being in possession of a controlled substance. All evidence was booked at the sheriff’s office. Case forwarded to the DA’s office for charges.

Oakhurst domestic altercation
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 9:54 a.m., deputies observed two subject at the block of 40000 CA-41 in a verbal and physical altercation. Both subjects are in a relationship and were arrested for pushing each other. They were arrested and transported to MDOC without incident.

Oakhurst disturbing the peace
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 11 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the block of 48000 Lindsay Lane regarding a tenant who was disturbing the peace of another. The victim requested charges filed. Refer to the DA’s office for charges filed.

Bass Lake lost wallet
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 12:50 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the block of 37000 Road 222 regarding a lost wallet. The subject had lost his wallet while hiking at the Angel Falls area. He was from out of country and requested a report for documentation. Refer report closed.

Ahwahnee outstanding warrant
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 3:15 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the intersection of Opah and Wallu Lane regarding a suspicious vehicle. The deputy contacted a subject who had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant. He was arrested and transported to MDOC where he was booked. Refer report closed.

Oakhurst possible suicidal subject
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 4:26 p.m., deputies responded to the area of the 40000 block of Goldside Drive for a W&I-5150 report. Upon arrival it was determined that the subject had left the residence and was possibly suicidal. The possible destination of the subject is unknown. A report was taken for this incident.

Bass Lake restraining order violation
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 4:11 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 53000 block of Road 432 in regards to a violation of a “Temporary Restraining Order”. Subject left the location prior to deputies arriving at the location. Forward case to Madera County District Attorney’s Office for charges.

Oakhurst possible altered check
On Thursday, Aug. 10, at 5:54 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the 40000 block of CA-Highway 49 regarding a possible altered check. Upon arrival it was learned that the female who had altered the check had left the area, but left behind her identification. No money was lost by the victim during the incident and both the check and ID were booked into evidence. Case to be forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office for charges to be filed.

Oakhurst vandalism
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 5:47 a.m., a deputy took a report of vandalism to a school in the 50000 block of School road in Oakhurst. There is no video and no witnesses. The school staff has been counseled about the need for either a night guard or a surveillance system. Case to be closed.

Coarsegold mental health issue
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 9:09 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 31000 block of Road 400 regarding a subject who told a friend that he was going to harm her. The subject had mental health issues and was taken under a W&I 5150 hold. He was turned over to EMS for transport to MCH for mental health evaluation. Refer report closed.

Coarsegold guest refuses to leave
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 9:09 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 31000 block of Road 400 regarding a subject who was a guest at a home and was refusing to leave. The female subject had a warrant and was cited and released. Refer report closed

Oakhurst unlawful credit card charges
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 2:23 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 51000 block of Road 423 regarding unlawful charges to a credit card. The victim requested a report for documentation. Refer report closed until further leads develop.

Oakhurst drinking in the cemetery
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 12:10 p.m., a deputy contacted two subjects consuming alcohol behind a cemetery located in the 40000 block of Highway 41. The male was turned over to another agency for two no bail warrants and the female went to the hospital.

Oakhurst alleged sexual offense
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 5:06 p.m., a deputy took a report from CPS regarding a sex offense that allegedly took place in Oakhurst in 2006 or 2007. Case to be forwarded to Detectives.

Coarsegold burglary
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 7:22 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 32000 block of Big Sandy Drive in the town of Coarsegold regarding burglary. Upon arrival an investigation ensued and a report was taken. This case is open pending further investigation.

Coarsegold danger to self case
On Friday, Aug. 11, at 9:57 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 42000 block of Deep Forest Drive in the town of Coarsegold regarding a call for public health. Upon arrival a female subject was contacted. She was found to be a danger to herself and she was admitted to the hospital for a mental health evaluation. Case closed.

Bass Lake boating under the influence                                                                                                                                                                                   On Saturday, Aug. 12, at 12:31 p.m., a deputy self-initiated a vessel stop on Bass Lake for various Harbor and Navigation safety violations subsequently resulting in an arrest for operating a vessel while under the influence of alcohol and or drugs and and child endangerment. Subject was arrested and booked at Madera County Department of Corrections.

Boating While Intoxicated Can Get You Arrested

Oakhurst tourist backpack stolen
On Saturday, Aug. 12, at 6:58 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to telephone a female regarding a report of a lost or stolen backpack. The backpack belonged to a tourist visiting from Italy. Victim reportedly left the backpack in the Starbucks Cafe accidentally. He later telephoned the business and determined the backpack was no longer there. Victim’s passport, $1500 in U.S. currency and $490 in Euros were in the backpack. This case has been suspended, pending investigative leads.

Bass Lake vehicle towed for blocking driveway
On Sunday, Aug. 13, at 2:58 p.m., a vehicle was towed from blocking a driveway on the 42000 block of Road 274.

Coarsegold warrant arrest
On Sunday, Aug. 13, at 5:47 p.m., a deputy was patrolling in the area of CA-41 and Road 415 in the town of Coarsegold when a traffic enforcement stop was conducted for a vehicle code violation. The passenger of the vehicle was found to have a misdemeanor warrant out of Madera County. The subject was arrested, cited and released on scene. Case closed by arrest.
