OAKHURST – Wanted! Team Captains, committee members, sponsors and survivors for Relay For Life 2014, scheduled for May 17-18. This year’s event will be held at Yosemite High School.
The first Team Captain meeting of the new year will be Monday, Jan. 13, at 5:30 p.m. at Oakhurst Medical Group. Immediately following that meeting, at 6:30 p.m., there will be a committee meeting.
“Those who are already on the planning committee or are interested in finding out more about it, please come,” says event co-chair Linda Gott-Maddox. “We need all the help we can get.
“The good news is we already have six teams registered. The challenge is that we need way more than that! The sooner you can get a team registered, the more time you have for fundraising and planning. You can register now at our EMC Relay website.“
The American Cancer Society Relay For Life is a life changing event that gives everyone in the community a chance to celebrate the lives of those who have battled cancer, remember loved ones who have lost their battle, and fight back against the dreaded disease.
At Eastern Madera County’s Relay For Life, teams of people camp out overnight and take turns walking or running the track. It’s a family-friendly, fun festival atmosphere. Anyone can participate in Relay For Life – friends, relatives, neighbors, classmates, co-workers, congregations, service organizations, sports teams, etc. – all can form teams.
