OAKHURST — On June 12, 2022, at 1:30 p.m., the Merced CHP Communications Center received a call of a traffic collision which occurred on northbound State Route 41 at River Falls Road.
Officers from the Oakhurst Area California Highway Patrol (CHP) and medical emergency personnel responded to the scene.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a 35-year-old male was riding a 1994 Harley-Davidson Softail northbound on State Route 41 at River Falls Road at an unknown rate of speed.
For unknown reason, the rider failed to negotiate a turn and the Harley-Davidson traveled off of the road in a westerly direction. The rider was ejected from the Harley-Davidson and collided with the rock embankment.
The rider sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The rider was wearing a helmet and no other vehicles were involved.
Alcohol or drugs are not suspected to be a factor and the investigation is ongoing.
