Motorcycle Club Donates Money For Children Affected By Detwiler Fire

BOOTJACK – On Saturday. Aug. 7, members of the Sierra Shadow Casters Motorcycle Club (SSC) were honored to make what they described as “a modest donation” of $1000 to the Mariposa Community Foundation (MCF).

MCF is a philanthropic organization that assists various Mariposa community projects including aid to the Detwiler Fire victims.

The funds presented by the SSC were raised by the generous contributions of the biker community and foothill residents who supported the SSC’s Sierra Memorial Run in June. The monies raised at that event were slated to help needy children in the mountain area.

When the Detwiler Fire hit Mariposa in July, it was unanimously agreed by the SSC membership that a donation should be made to specifically help families with children who lost their homes in the tragedy.

The presentation was made at the Fire Relief Center which is being housed in the New Life Christian Fellowship Church in Bootjack. The church gymnasium is stocked to the brim with clothing, personal hygiene items, food and housewares, all donated by members of the community.
