Mop-up Continues On Oak Fire, Evacuation Advisories Lifted

AHWAHNEE – Mop-up continues on the Oak Fire burning northeast of Ahwahnee. The fire is estimated at 360 acres and is now 75 percent contained.

All advisory evacuation notices have been lifted as of 9 a.m. today. Road 620 is now open without restriction.

Fire personnel are still active in the area, so please reduce speeds and drive with caution.

The following roads and areas remain closed:

  • Lone Sequoia Campground
  • Miami Motorcycle Trails closed to all traffic
  • Road 6S24 from Road 628 to Highway 41
  • Road 6S17 from 6S24 to Allen Road

The Oak Fire started on Saturday, Sept. 22 at 3:44 p.m. off Lonesome Oak Road north of Road 620.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
