Mariposa Office of Emergency Services Seeks Input

MARIPOSA — The Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office, which also functions as the state’s Office of Emergency Services (OES), is currently updating the Mariposa County Local Hazard Mitigation Plan.

One of the functions of OES is to create plans for incidents, like preparing for emergencies, responding to emergencies, recovering from emergencies, mitigating emergencies, and preventing emergencies.

A hazard mitigation plan is “any action taken to reduce or eliminate the long-term rush to human life and property from natural hazards,” according to a release posted by the sheriff’s office.

Residents are invited to provide input on updating the current plan. To learn more about the Hazard Mitigation Plans, visit mariposacounty.org/1795/Office-of-Emergency-Services.

The public draft for 2019 is available on the Mariposa County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page.
