Madera County Sheriff’s Log Through July 29

MADERA COUNTY – Following are details from the Madera County Sheriff’s Office of reports taken locally from Monday, July 23, to Sunday, July 29, 2018.

Oakhurst theft of backhoe bucket
On Monday, July 23, at 9:26 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the area of Highway CA-41 and Road 426 for a report of a theft of a backhoe bucket from two months previous. A report was written for documentation.

Oakhurst lost wallet
On Monday, July 23, at 10:58 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to investigate a lost wallet that occurred at Vons. Telephonic contact was made with victim.

Ahwahnee attempted burglary
On Monday, July 23, at 4:13 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Oakhurst substation to contact a homeowner who wanted to report an attempted burglary that occurred in the 44000 block of CA-49. As a result of this investigation a suspect was identified. The suspect is on active parole. Investigation is ongoing.

Oakhurst woman chased by mountain lion
On Monday, July 23, at 9:52 p.m., deputies responded to the 56000 block of Wild Plum Lane for a report of a female who was being chased by a mountain lion. Deputies arrived on scene, a case was generated and the case was closed.

Ahwahnee assault with a deadly weapon
On Monday, July 23, at 10:07 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 45000 block of S. Oakview Drive in regard to an assault with a deadly weapon call. An investigation was completed and a male adult was arrested. Three firearms were seized and several different types of ammunition. The male subject was booked into the Madera County Jail. A report was written and forwarded to the DA’s Office for prosecution.

Ahwahnee parolee arrested
On Tuesday, July 24, at 1:43 a.m., a parolee was arrested in the 43000 block of Hilltop Lane in Ahwahnee, at Parole Agent’s request.

Oakhurst woman screaming
On Tuesday, July 24, at 8:57 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 48000 block of Lindsay Lane in Oakhurst regarding a female subject yelling and screaming. Report was written and hold was completed.

Coarsegold missing child
On Tuesday, July 24, at 9:13 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 30000 block of CA-41 in regard to a missing 7-year-old child. The child was located approximately one mile from the residence, near the shoulder of CA-41.

Ahwahnee child slapped
On Tuesday, July 24, at 9:30 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 45000 block of Highway 49 in Ahwahnee regarding a report of a child being slapped. Report written and case closed.

Coarsegold runaway juvenile
On Tuesday, July 24, at 9:13 a.m., deputies were dispatched to the 30000 block of Highway CA-41 for a report of an at risk runaway juvenile. The juvenile was later located near Highway CA-41. A 300W&I was placed on the child and turned over to Madera County CPS.

North Fork stolen credit card
On Tuesday, July 24, at 3:41 p.m., deputies responded to the 31000 block of Arab Way in North Fork, regarding the use of a stolen credit card. A suspect was identified and contacted, however the victims were unsure if they wanted to pursue charges.

North Fork outstanding warrant arrest
On Tuesday, July 24, at 7:55 p.m., a deputy arrived at a residence located within the 31000 block of Road 222 in North Fork, regarding a follow up investigation of a previous case. Deputy contacted a male at the residence who was found to have an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for his arrest. The male was placed into custody and issued a citation. This case has been cleared by arrest.

Wishon domestic disturbance
On Wednesday, July 25, at 8:31 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a verbal domestic disturbance in the 35000 block of Highland Drive West. Upon arrival, one party was contacted and the other left the scene.

Oakhurst coroner’s case
On Wednesday, July 25, at 9:54 a.m., a deputy dealt with a delayed Coroner’s case with the primary physician stipulating to the decedent’s cause of death. This is a natural death case involving only a Coroner’s referral number.

Oakhurst motorized bike towed
On Wednesday, July 25, at 12:02 p.m., deputies conducted a traffic stop on a male subject who was riding a motorized bike in the area of Road 426 and Highway CA-41. The male subject’s motorized bike was towed and he was issued a citation for several traffic violations and given a court date to appear.

Oakhurst alcohol shoplifters
On Wednesday, July 25, at 2:28 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 40000 block of Highway CA-49 for a report of shoplifting. Suspects were captured on video surveillance taking some alcohol and leaving in a white vehicle. A report was written for documentation.

Coarsegold animal cruelty
On Wednesday, July 25, at 3:09 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 30000 block of Hogan’s Mountain in Coarsegold to assist Madera County Animal Control regarding animal cruelty. Report written, animals placed on a hold, and charges to be filed with the Madera County District Attorneys Office.

Oakhurst lost wallet
On Wednesday, July 25, at 9:43 p.m., a cadet was dispatched to take a telephonic report in regards to a misplaced wallet. The wallet was lost on the 40000 block of Junction Drive. A report was taken for documentation.

Oakhurst vehicle towed, no tags or insurance
On Wednesday, July 25, at 11:40 p.m., a deputy observed a vehicle driving through the parking lot of Vons in Oakhurst. The vehicle had an expired registration tag displayed on the rear plate. A record check confirmed the vehicle had not been registered in over six months. Upon contacting the driver it was determined the driver was not in possession of his driver’s license and had no proof of insurance. The vehicle was towed and stored and the driver was issued a citation for the various traffic infractions. This case has been forwarded to the Madera County DA’s Office for the filing of related charges.

Coarsegold dispute leads to warrant arrest
On Thursday, July 26, at 3:43 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the Chukchansi Casino on Lucky Lane in Coarsegold, regarding a report of a possible domestic dispute in the parking lot. During the investigation it was determined the dispute was verbal only. A records check revealed the female involved had an outstanding misdemeanor warrant for her arrest issued from the Tuolumne County Superior Court. The female was placed into custody. The female was issued a citation and released from custody. This case has been cleared by arrest.

Coarsegold argument leads to citation for warrant
On Thursday, July 26, at 3:43 a.m. a deputy responded to the Chukchansi Casino on Lucky Lane in regard to a verbal argument between a male and female. The male subject was found to have an active misdemeanor warrant out of Tuolumne County. He was issued a citation and released on scene. A report was written for documentation purposes.

Oakhurst firearms collected at owner’s request
On Thursday, July 26, at 11:08 a.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 42000 block of Shady Lane to collect two firearms the RP wished to be destroyed. The firearms were collected and logged into an evidence locker. Case to be closed.

Coarsegold check stolen from mailbox
On Thursday, July 27, at 5:01 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 32000 block of Meadow Ridge Road in Coarsegold regarding a theft of a check from a community mailbox cluster. The check was reported to have been cashed in Fresno. Report is to be forwarded to Fresno P.D. for follow-up regarding check fraud.

Oakhurst juvenile arrested with stolen
On Thursday, July 26, at 7:31 p.m., deputies were dispatched to the Raley’s parking lot regarding a theft of alcohol from this location. A deputy searching the area located and detained the subject. Suspect was identified as the suspect stealing alcohol from the business. Alcohol was located on the suspect and suspect was arrested and transported to Juvenile Hall.

Oakhurst domestic violence
On Thursday, July 26, at 9:53 p.m., a deputy responded to the 42000 block of Shady Lane in Oakhurst for a report of domestic violence. The parties were contacted and a report written. Case to be forwarded to the DA’s office for review.

North Fork juvenile assaulted while riding bike
On Thursday, July 26, at 10:58 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the area of Roads 225 and 228 for a juvenile who was assaulted by an unknown male while riding his bike home. An investigation was conducted and a report was written for documentation to lack of suspect information.

Oakhurst found items, unknown owner
On Friday, July 27, at 12:28 p.m., a corporal was dispatched to Yosemite Bike and Sport regarding found property. There is no way to identify the owner. The items were booked into property at the Sheriff’s Office and this case may be closed.

Coarsegold illegal trash dump
On Friday, July 27, at 4:01 p.m., a deputy was dispatched to the 30000 block of Quartz Mountain Road in Coarsegold regarding an illegal trash dump. Evidence was obtained from the scene. Report pending investigation.

Oakhurst woman tries to climb into fire truck
On Friday, July 27, at 4:05 p.m., a corporal was dispatched to the Oakhurst Pizza Factory regarding a female who was observed trying to get into or out of a fire engine. The female was subsequently located and found to be a danger to herself. She was placed under a 72-hour mental health evaluation hold and transported by ambulance to Madera Community Hospital for treatment. Forward a copy of this case to Madera County Adult Protective Services for information.

Oakhurst stop-and-talk leads to citations on warrants
On Friday, July 27, at 9:02 p.m., a deputy was patrolling the area of the Oakhurst Community College when the deputy spotted a man sitting on the curb after hours. The deputy stopped and asked the man’s name and birth date and learned the man had five $1,000 warrants for 647f. The deputy searched the man and cited him for each warrant.

Oakhurst dog attack
On Sunday, July 29, at 3:23 p.m., deputies responded to the Manna House on Junction Drive for a report of a dog attack that occurred on July 28, at approximately 1 p.m. The reporting party was not in the area and was contacted by telephone.

Oakhurst traffic stop leads to arrest
On Sunday, July 29, at 8:40 p.m., a vehicle stop on Highway 41 in Oakhurst led to the cited arrest of a local woman for a traffic warrant.
