Madera County Celebrates 125 Years With Teen Art Contest

MADERA – Submissions are now being accepted for a Teen Art Contest, celebrating the county’s 125th anniversary and asking, “What do you love about Madera County?”

Teens age 12 to 18 are encouraged to submit their artwork, and have it displayed in the Madera County Government Center lobby and on Madera County’s Facebook page.

Artwork must incorporate Madera County’s 125th anniversary logo, and any medium is accepted: pencil, charcoal, watercolor, oil, three-dimensional, etc.

Submissions will be accepted through the month of June, and the winner will be selected in July by the Madera County Art Council.

Contest Rules:

1)  Contestants must be in 7th-12th grade to participate.

2)  Artwork Theme : Madera County’s 125th Anniversary : Must include the 125th Anniversary logo. Artwork can be realistic or abstract. You may include people and animals in your artwork.

3)  Any medium is accepted: pencil, charcoal, watercolor, oil, three- dimensional, Completely original artwork, etc.

  • Paint (watercolor, tempera, poster, acrylic, etc.)
  • Drawing materials (pencil, charcoal, colored chalk, pastels, oil pastels, colored pencils, markers, etc.)
  • Collage materials (cut and glued papers, such as construction paper, tissue paper, wrapping paper, aluminum foil, etc.)
  • Prints (handmade stencils, gadget printing, collographs, block prints, etc.)
  • Sculpting materials (clay, papier-mâché, etc.)
  • Original digital illustration
  • Photography Students are encouraged to use bold colors and strong lines.

4)  Entries submitted between April 1st and June 30th .

5)  Contest entries can be submitted either by dropping them off during office hours 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or by mail.

6)  Preliminary judging will take place in July by Madera County Art Council.

7)  Winner will be announced on Facebook.

8)  Copyright Law : any artwork that depicts copyrighted images will be rejected. For example, no artworks depicting characters from television shows, movies, video games, or books will be accepted. All artworks must be original ideas and created entirely by the student.

9)  Madera County reserves the right to photograph and feature artwork for future print or digital promotional campaigns.
