Madera County Celebrates 125 Years At The Old Courthouse

MADERA – In celebration of the 125th Anniversary of Madera County, the Board of Supervisors will host their weekly board meeting on Tuesday, May 15, at the historic Madera County Courthouse located at 200 South G Street.

In an effort to celebrate the County’s roots and growing future, a commemorative tree will be planted at Madera County Park, 210 W. Yosemite Ave. Everyone is invited to join in the celebration from 9 to 9:30 a.m.

The Madera County Park Restoration Committee donated a tree for the occasion. This partnership between the Madera County Historical Society, Madera County Park Restoration Committee and the County of Madera celebrates the strong collaborative roots that have existed since the counties independence from Fresno County on May 16, 1893.

In an effort to honor the past, embrace the present and look ahead to the future, the Madera County 125th Anniversary Committee has pursued a number of efforts which include the Anniversary float which is being featured in each of the five districts throughout the year, three community art campaigns, the recent rendition of the County’s birth story hosted by the North Fork Squirrel Cage Theater, and the Race to Remember on Memorial Day.
