Local Ski School Seeking Volunteer Instructors

Picture of a person skiingMADERA COUNTY — Mountain Area Ski School (MASS) is looking for volunteer ski and snowboard instructors to teach snow sports to our local area grade school students. MASS is currently about to embark on their 53rd year providing ski and snowboard instruction to eligible students from grades four through six.

Volunteer instructors do not need to be expert skiers or snowboarders in order to participate. They run a fun, yet regimented, program with all instructors receiving an instructional clinic to help them learn how to teach.

Their season runs for approximately nine Fridays, weather permitting, and instructors who have joined the program must commit to attending at least seven of those days as we incur insurance expenses on their behalf.

This is a chance to share your love of snow sports with the upcoming generations of new skiers and boarders, spend Fridays outdoors doing something you love, and share the camaraderie of a contingent of great adults doing something positive for the community.

If interested, please attend their informational meeting this Friday, Dec. 6, 9 a.m., at the Lutheran Church located at 39255 Black Oak Road at Road 426.

For questions call Dale Hartesveldt at 559-760-4976 or Peter Leinau at 559-683-7408.

Check out their Facebook page at Mountain Area Ski School.
