OAKHURST – Members of the Sierra Oakhurst Kiwanis Club welcome one and all to the 16th annual Run for the Gold classic car show on Saturday, Sept. 8 at Oakhurst Community Park, preceeded by a poker ride, dinner and preview party at the Oakhurst Community Center on Friday night, Sept. 7.

The car show is free for the public to enter and check out the sweet rides. The cost for registration of vehicles is $30 until Sept. 1. After that, it’s $35.

The action starts on Friday afternoon from 2 – 5 p.m. with a free poker run, designed to introduce participants to some of the area’s local merchants who support the car show. It’s open to everyone, with prizes for high and low hand in the form of $100 Summit Racing gift certificates.

Finish off Friday with the Kiwanis Tri-Tip Dinner and kick-off party at 5:30 p.m., when pre-registration of cars is open and a “cruise-in,” happens until 8 p.m. Anyone interested can enjoy a delicious BBQ dinner for $18 per person at the door. Take-out meals are also going to be available.

That price includes the sounds of a DJ playing rock ‘n roll classics, a raffle, and a preview of some of the exceptional cars in the mix. You can pick up your maps at the Oakhurst Community Center at 2 p.m., register and buy dinner tickets, if you have not gotten them yet.

Saturday, visitors enjoy a free full day of auto-admiration and family fun, plus food and vendors, music and more at Oakhurst Community Park. Registration is at 7 a.m. Breakfast and lunch will be available, as well. Before, during and after that, it’s all about the cars, including crafts, raffles, and good times.

Awards will be given out for Best Roadster, People’s Choice and Best of Show, along with first place plaques for each class and special award for Best Mopar.
