HOW Dinner Honors Becky Cairns

becky-cairns-how-recipient-oct-2016OAKHURST — Volunteers behind the monthly charitable dinner, Helping One Woman (HOW) will honor local teacher Becky Cairns, this evening.

“Becky teaches at Chawanakee School and has a great love for her students,” say organizers. “She is involved in many community events and is part of the leadership for an upcoming women’s conference in North Fork.”

Just under a year ago, Becky’s husband Kirby “changed his address to a heavenly one,” after succumbing to lung cancer. Kirby was much loved in the community, say HOW members, and loved working with young men. Becky and Kirby have three grown children and one grandchild.

The event is set for El Cid Mexican Cuisine in Oakhurst on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. (559) 658-5428.

Organizers offer their thanks in advance for passing the word by sharing the event and attending with your friends. If you have donations for the prize drawing, please let the HOW team know.

Those participating in the HOW benefit dinner place $10 or more toward a contribution for Becky, and pay for their own dinners. Proceeds from the evening go directly to the month’s recipient — Becky for October -— at the end of the evening.

Men, women, and children are all welcome. The $10 suggested donation at the door affords each participant a door prize ticket. 100% of funds raised go directly to Becky.

“Please call Nancy @ tokens 559-658-5428 with the number in your party.”

HOW members believe that “one woman giving $10 can buy another woman’s lunch. Ten women giving $10 can buy another woman’s groceries. One hundred women giving $10 can change another woman’s life. This is how HOW works.”
