Gymkhana Senior Project Benefits YHS FFA

COARSEGOLD — Yosemite High School senior Courtney Herrera will host an Open Western Gymkhana for all ages on Saturday, Nov. 12 at the Coarsegold Rodeo Grounds for her senior project at 10 a.m.

Those interested do not need to make reservations, as sign-ups will be on the day of the event.

The entry fee is $25 (cash only) per contestant, with free admission for spectators. The fee includes entry into various events including Speed Barrels, Turn & Burn and Leadline.

Rules of the competitions will be posted the day of the event. The required attire is a long sleeve shirt, pants, and western boots. For participants who are under 18, a helmet is required. A valid proof of age is required to participate.

The proceeds raised at this event will be donated to the Yosemite High School FFA and used to help FFA members purchase their FFA jackets, which is a required part of the official FFA uniform.

Gymkhana is an equestrian event consisting of speed pattern racing and timed games for riders on horses, often emphasizing children’s participation.
