Flag Day Celebration At Oakhurst Lutheran Church

OAKHURST — Continuing a tradition held since 2009, Oakhurst Lutheran Church will hold a celebration in honor of Flag Day on Wednesday, June 14. Again this year, the event will take place in the memorial garden at the church, with the ceremony at the veterans’ monument, starting with dinner at 6 p.m.

Dinner and dessert includes a tri-tip sandwich, chips, soda and ice cream, with a suggested donation of $12.50 for the Semper Fi fundraiser. The celebration continues at the flagpole and memorial at 7 p.m.

This year’s returning speaker will be CHP Officer Kaci Lutz, former Captain in the US Army and Black Hawk helicopter pilot, along with Michael Vaughn, Command Sergeant Major of the Army Reserve.

Retirement of old flags will also be part of the ceremony, so if you have a flag in need of proper disposal bring it to the church office. The Lions Club will provide a free flag for the children.

Oakhurst Lutheran Church is located at 39255 Black Road. Questions? Give them a call at (559) 683-4673.
