MARIPOSA–A vegetation fire has been reported in the Mariposa area near Highway 140 and Mt Bullion Cutoff Road. Ground and air crews are battling the fire at this time. We will update this article as more information is available.
This is the Squirrel Fire.
Authorities are reporting the fire is currently 5 acres. No evacuations are taking place however, Highway 140 is going to be closed. Please avoid the area.

Highway 140 is now open to one way traffic. Air resources have been released and ground crews are mopping up.
