Early Bird Discounts For Smokey Bear Run/Walk

BASS LAKE — It’s time to register for the Smokey Bear Run / Walk, returning to the shores of beautiful Bass Lake on Saturday, Sept. 24.

This year’s Race Chairman, Sheriff Jay Varney, invites all runners and walkers to join in the celebration of the 29th running of this popular event. This year’s proceeds will benefit Cal Fire and the United States Forest Service (USFS) Fire Prevention Programs, and the Madera County Sheriff’s Office.

Registration forms can be picked up at Sierra Tel, Yosemite Sierra Visitors Bureau in Oakhurst or the Visitors Center in Mariposa. Registration forms can also be completed online or downloaded and mailed to:

Races are for the entire family to come out and enjoy. The Smokey Bear Run / Walk is a 30 point “Valley Runner of the Year Series” race. If you register early, you will qualify for the early bird discount! Early Bird pricing is $25 if you register before June 30, and $7 for the children’s races. There are gradual increases until race day, with the race day price being $40 for adults and $10 for the children’s races.

The races will take place at Recreation Point/Bass Lake, located at 39900 Road 222, Bass Lake, California.

Road 222 will close to all vehicles at 7:15 a.m. and reopens at 9:40 a.m.

Registration: 6:45 a.m. – 7:45 a.m. at Recreation Point, Bass Lake.
