COARSEGOLD – A Coarsegold man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol after he crashed into the back of a motorhome on Highway 41 yesterday afternoon.
At about 5:10 p.m., Justin Henry, 28, was southbound in a 1995 Ford F-150 approaching Serpa Canyon Road, according to CHP.
Bobby Dowell, 79, also of Coarsegold, was southbound ahead of Henry in a 2003 Fleetwood RV and had just pulled onto the shoulder of the road to allow cars to go by when Mr. Henry crashed into the back of the RV at approximately 40-50 mph, according to a witness at the scene.
The roadway was blocked for about 10 minutes before one-way traffic control was established, and was reopened about 15 minutes later when both vehicles were moved to the side of the road.
According to CHP, neither driver reported injuries as a result of the crash.
Henry was arrested by CHP on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Madera County Department of Corrections on a $10,000 bond.
The accident remains under investigation.
