OAKHURST – An Oakhurst woman was arrested for Driving Under the Influence after a head-on collision on Highway 41 yesterday morning in which four people were injured, according to the CHP.
Sherry Lynn Abraugh Getchell, 40, crashed head-on into Debra Essary, of Coarsegold, just after 7 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, about two miles south of Oakhurst. She was reportedly headed southbound, but was driving in the northbound lane when the accident happened.
Getchell had two passengers in her vehicle at the time of the crash. One suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center. The other sustained moderate injuries.
Getchell was transported by ground ambulance to CRMC with a broken arm and injury to her leg, after being extricated from the the Chevy Trailblazer she was driving. She was arrested for felony DUI causing injury to others, and taken to Madera County Jail, according to CHP.
