Driver Transported For Unrelated Medical Issue After Accident

OAKHURST – An accident blocked the northbound lane of Highway 41 in Oakhurst for a short time this morning, and one driver was transported to a Valley hospital.

At about 8:30 a.m., a 37-year-old Oakhurst man was northbound in a 2004 Dodge pickup, just passing Denny’s Restaurant on his way to work.

A 79-year-old woman, also from Oakhurst, was southbound at the same location in a 2000 Toyota Sienna.

According to CHP at the scene, there was a vehicle immediately in front of the northbound Dodge pickup, and as soon as that vehicle went by the Toyota, the female driver of the Toyota turned directly into the path of the Dodge, hitting nearly head-on.

The Toyota came to rest partially blocking the northbound lane of Highway 41, and CHP pushed it off to the shoulder to clear the roadway.

Following the crash, the female driver suffered what was described by CHP as “an unassociated medical issue,” and was transported to Kaiser in Fresno. The driver of the pickup was uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation.
