Crash On Highway 41 Near Cedar Valley

OAKHURST – A single vehicle accident just north of Cedar Valley Road slowed traffic for over an hour this afternoon.

At 5:15 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 20, a group of students from Pleasant Hill, Calif., were southbound on Highway 41 when they apparently entered a left-hand turn at too high a rate of speed.

The Mercedes SUV hit the bank on the right side of the road and flipped over, coming to rest in the southbound lane, blocking the roadway. The four occupants reportedly kicked out the back window to escape from the wreck.

Sierra Ambulance responded to the scene and evaluated those involved in the crash, but none was injured badly enough to need medical care, and no one was transported.

Madera County Fire Department Engine 12 and Squad 18 also responded along with CHP. No other vehicles were involved.

Traffic control was in place for over an hour as the scene was cleared.
