Crash During Morning Commute On Hwy 41

MADERA COUNTY – A three-vehicle accident at the Rocky Cut on Highway 41 closed the roadway in both directions for over an hour this morning.

CHP, EMTs and fire department personnel responded to reports of a crash just north of the 22-Mile House at 7:41 a.m. on Wednesday, May 27.

According to CHP, one vehicle apparently hit the rock wall, causing a chain reaction of what were described as fender-benders in the narrow roadway. With no shoulder to move the vehicles onto, the roadway had to be closed as the scene was cleared.

Information on the exact number of injuries is not available at this time, but injuries were reported as minor by CHP.

Traffic was diverted southbound at Road 200, and northbound at Highway 145.

The roadway was reopened at 8:51 a.m. and the cause of the accident is under investigation.
